Autonomous and Sustainable House (ASH) -
3 bedroom 1820 sq. ft. demonstration home / office is a sustainable, autonomous and energy efficient building in NW Calgary. Showcases environmental stewardship, occupant health, resource conservation, appropriate technology, alternative energy and self-sufficiency. The house generates photovoltaic electricity and uses solar heat for space and water heating.
Charge $5 + GST per person (Student / Teacher rate). Minimum of 6 people. 1 hr tour.

Vision Quest Windelectric
Vision Quest hosts tours of its Castle River Wind Farm, featuring 64 electricity generating wind turbines, located near Pincher Creek.

Wind Song Power Inc.
Wind Song provides a guided bus tour of several wind farms in the Pincher Creek region. Bus pick-up and drop-off for Calgary participants.
Charge is $65 per person. Discounts are available for students / teachers. Minimum of 25 people.

Spruce Meadows
Spruce Meadows has recently installed a 40 panel solar array on the roof of one of their buildings. The solar array is a joint project with BP and will provide 3500 kWh of power annually to the British House (a hosting venue for meetings, weddings, etc.).

Pembina Institute
The Pembina Institute's Education Team presents at many conferences and participates in various events throughout the school year. Email us and find out if they will be in your local area.

Enbridge
Charles Szmurlo, Director, Pathfinders and Planning, can speak to your class on behalf of Enbridge. Topics include wind energy, fuel cell technology, and others.

Karen Dickie can speak to your class on behalf of Enmax. Topics include electricity generation and alternative energy.

Powersource Inc.
Powersource is a local supplier of renewable energy systems. They install mini-wind turbines, small hydro generators and specialize in photo-voltaics. Neil Fricke can speak to classes with a technical / design perspective on renewable energy.

University of Calgary
Professor Tang Lee can speak to classes on solar energy, solar heat, energy conservation, indoor air quality, and other topics. Possibility of guided tours to local sites where renewable energy is used. Special arrangement only.

Calgary Transit
Judy Fernandes, Community Relations Facilitator, Calgary Transit can speak to classes about Ride the Wind!TM and the environmental benefits of city transit.

BP (British Petroleum)
BP is an oil / gas company that is also a leading manufacturer of solar cells. While BP doesn't manufacture solar cells in Calgary, their Calgary office does have a number of knowledgeable employees that can speak to classes on the basics of photovoltaic technology.

Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT)
A number of teachers and students are interested in speaking to classes on the topic of renewable energy. Specialties / areas of interest will vary from speaker to speaker.
